Updated: Man struck and killed by train

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal accident where a person was struck by a train.

It happened in Monument near Park Trail Drive and Blizzard Valley.

Those with the Sheriff's Office say they got the call around 11:35 last night from Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, also known as BNSF, saying they had hit someone on the tracks.

Authorities did find a deceased male at the scene.

They spent several hours overnight investigating at the scene, but no age or identity has been given for the deceased.

The Sheriff's Office is working to figure out who this man is and why he was on the tracks late at night.

Along with the Sheriff's Office, Monument Police and representatives from BNSF also responded to the scene.

We are working to learn more and will bring you the latest as it becomes available.
