UPDATE: Suspicious package in Pueblo declared safe

A Pueblo Police Department spokesperson tells News First 5 that the suspicious package identified as a brief case has been declared safe after the owner was found. Acting on a tip that the brief case may be an item from a stolen vehicle from over night, Pueblo Police contacted the owner who came to the scene and identified the brief and other items also found on scene.

The brief case was found by a concerned citizen this morning in their yard. Not knowing who it belonged to they contacted Police who responded then as a precaution called the Bomb Squad unit to stand by in case the item was not from the related stolen vehicle.

Once the brief case was identified it was returned to the owner along with other items.
