Colorado Springs Police investigators tell News 5 they entered an apartment off of Westmeadow Drive with a robot Saturday around noon, but no one was home. They had a search warrant and say they were looking for a homicide suspect from a shooting earlier that morning at a Colorado Springs bar.
Police say it was reports from witnesses that led investigators to the unit at the Cheyenne Crest apartments. They haven't found their suspect, and say the investigation is continuing.
The shooting was just after midnight at the Golden Cue, off of Hancock Expressway. Colorado Springs police say they found two victims when they got there. They say one man was taken to Evans Army Community Hospital by private vehicle; a woman was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police say the man was pronounced dead at Evans Army Community Hospital. No word on the woman's injuries or identity.
A spokesperson for Fort Carson tells News 5 that guards at the gate stopped the private vehicle trying to get to Evans Army Community Hospital. The Mountain Post spokesperson says there were two injured soldiers in the vehicle; no details on their injuries or their identities at this time. The spokesperson says the guards called for an ambulance, but they say one of the soldiers died on the way to Memorial Hospital for treatment. The other was treated and released.
