Colorado Springs Police still are investigating the death of a man shot by a police officer Friday night.

Officers chased the suspect across Carefree, into the parking lot of the apartment complex. C.S.P.D. is not releasing the nature of that investigation or why the suspect was being chased.

J.D. Courtney, a resident of the Greentree Village Apartment complex, says he heard the shooting. After some yelling, Courtney says from in his apartment he heard 3 shots fired. The scenerio was frightening enough for Courtney to "duck and cover."

Police were not releasing details on the deceased at the scene. Police say they aren't looking for anyone else and no one has been taken into custody. Police still were investigating at the scene at the shooting later into Friday night.

As protocol, an investigation with the officer who fired the shots will take place. Being an officer-involved shooting, the District Attorney's office will lead the investigation.
