Update: Newborn girl found in Colorado Springs never in dumpster

On Wednesday, December 5, a newborn girl was taken to Memorial Hospital after being retrieved outside Shadow Ridge Grove Apartments near Garden of the Gods and N Nevada.
CSPD says the mother of the child, 17, made the initial call. Police say she had control over the baby the entire time, and the baby was never in or near a dumpster.
The mother will be facing either a misdemeanor for falsely reporting the finding of an abandoned child or felony of influencing a public official.
CSPD also reports the baby girl was born at home, not in a hospital, and was approximately 6-12 hours old when found. The mother was identified immediately.
