Update: intoxicated teen involved in high speed chase and crash

On Saturday night, Colorado Springs Police Officers pursued a vehicle, that was involved in a hit and run, on northbound Academy Blvd. The driver, later found to be an unlicensed, intoxicated 15 year-old male, was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Academy Blvd directly toward one of the Springs Police Officer and other vehicles.

The suspect drove southbound on I-25 at high rate of speed. Police ended up blocking I-25 traffic in that area to prevent crashes.

The suspect, at one point, exited Nevada Ave and reentered I-25 at a high rate of speed. The suspect continued southbound on I-25 to Garden of Gods exit at a high rate of speed. As he exited, he failed to turn, striking the raised median and continued over it into the eastbound lane striking another vehicle going eastbound on Garden of Gods at the ramp.

Both drivers were transported to Memorial with minor injuries.
