Fire crews from Fountain and Security have responded in force to quickly gain the upper hand on a grass fire buring in an open field between S. Powers Blvd and Woody Creek Road. The fire was spreading quickly from the southeast towards the northwest threatening multiple homes. Crews had to bust through fences in back yards to keep the flames from actually reaching and damaging any homes.

Witnesses in the area tell El Paso County Sheriff's Deputies that there were people seen fireing off fireworks in the area shortly before the fire was reported. Even with recent snow and rain fall, the open grass land all along the front range are still dangerously dry. Many cities and counties are still on fire restrictions due to the high fire danger.
