Update: Fire in Falcon 100% contained

A wind-whipped grass fire in eastern El Paso County is now 100% contained after burning at least three outbuildings. No homes were lost.

The fire burned at least 175 acres, but that number could grow after crews evaluate the entire burn area.

No injuries have been reported, and no animals lost. There are animals running wild in the area, having been let loose by owners to keep them from being trapped in outbuildings as flames approached.

The fire started in Falcon at the intersection of Dodge and Garrett Roads, it spread about a mile down Highway 24, causing the road to close for several hours.

Fire crews from the county and city were called in to fight the fire.

A spark from a transformer started the wildfire.
