COLORADO SPRINGS - The driver of an SUV who hit and killed two people that were pushing a stalled minivan out of traffic has been arrested. Robert Icenogle faces charges of Driving Under the Influence and Vehicular Homicide.

The accident happened at around 4:00 p.m. in the 2500 Block of Pikes Peak Avenue just east of the intersection with Parkside Drive.

Police officers say there were three people trying to push the silver Ford Windstar from the eastbound left lane of Pikes Peak when they were hit by Icenogle.

One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene. The second died after being taken in an ambulance to the hospital. The third person and two other passengers in the van suffered moderate injuries. Icenogle was not injured.

Officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department Major Accident Unit are investigating the crash. Pikes Peak was temporarily closed in both directions at Parkside.
