UPDATE: Colorado Springs police say 54 year old Rosa Maria Ramos-Diaz of Chihuahua, Mexico died in a car accident last night at the intersection of Fountain Blvd., and Powers Blvd. Officers say Ramos-Diaz was not wearing a seatbelt. Four other people were also injured.
Eastbound Fountain Boulevard was closed for hours after the following the deadly accident that happened just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Colorado Springs Police Department Major Accident Unit is investigating the crash.
According to police, the driver of a Mitsubishi Outlander was making a left turn onto Fountain when it collided with Honda Accord that was heading south on Powers.
According a fire department spokesperson, rescuers had to use the Jaws of Life to get people out.
The police do not suspect drugs and alcohol were involved, but they do say charges are pending.
