UPDATE: A US Army spokesperson from Fort Riley, KS confirms the murder victim found at a Colorado Springs Hotel Sunday morning was a soldier who had been stationed there since 2008.
Sgt. Kimberly Walker, 28, of Cincinnati served with the Forward Support Company of the 2nd General Support Aviation Battalion, Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division. Walker joined the Army in September of 2004.
The El Paso County Coroner's Office just released the cause of death on a woman who was found dead Sunday morning at a Crowne Plaza Hotel.
The Coroner's Office say 28-year-old, Kimberly Walker was strangled to death.
Walker was discovered in a room at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on South Circle Drive after Colorado Springs police officers were called to the hotel on a "check the welfare" request.
Fort Carson soldier Montrell Mayo, 24, turned himself in Sunday to the Greenville, N.C. police and was taken to the Pitt County jail on suspicion of first-degree murder. Mayo is being held without bail while he awaits extradition back to Colorado.
