Update: Colorado Springs Police return stolen military coins to owner

Colorado Springs Police have found the owner of 17 military challenge coins that were turned in to the department two-weeks ago. The coins, which are collected by service members to show which units they've served in and where they've served, were found in the area of Verde Drive and Royale Place. The person who found them had no idea where they came from and turned them in to the CSPD Sand Creek Division station. News 5 ran a story about the coins on Thursday and on Friday the owner contacted police. According to CSPD the coins were stolen during a burglary in Widefield last April. Police say the owner of the coins is grateful to have them back. Anyone with information about who stole the coins is asked to call police at 719-444-7000.
