Update: Arkansas River Flood Warning Continues

A Flood Warning remains in effect for the Arkansas River near Avondale in Pueblo County. At 7:15 AM Friday, the river was measured at 6.4 feet. Flood stage is 7.0 feet. The river is expected to rise to above flood stage by early this evening and to a crest of 8.4 feet by midmorning Saturday before falling below flood stage late Saturday afternoon. Considerable flooding of agricultural lands near Avondale is expected.

Also, remember to STAY AWAY from the banks of Fountain Creek and the Arkansas River. The rain and swollen rivers have weakened the banks to a point where they can break, and you can easily fall into the fast flowing water.

The Flood Warnings for Fountain Creek at Colorado Springs and Fountain Creek near Fountain have been cancelled.
