Following a phoned in threat of a possible explosive device, the Walmart on S. 8th Street was voluntarily evacuated and closed. Store management made the decision to keep the store closed for more than 4 hours while a sweep of the building was made to determine the store was safe to reopen.

Colorado Springs Police and the Regional Bomb squad used a bomb sniffing K9 to check the building before turning it back over to the store management.
