At approximately 8:15 A.M. Sunday morning a 1991 Geo Prism ran a stop sign at Rebecca Ln into N. Academy Blvd when it collided with a 2000 Toyota Corolla was traveling south on Academy Blvd in a center through lane. The force of the initial impact caused both vehicles to spin and collide again.
The driver of the Prism, a 76 year-old female, who was admitted to Memorial Hospital with a closed head injury and is currently listed in critical condition. Southbound N. Academy was shut down for nearly an hour as crews worked to clear the scene and police gathered evidence and investigated the crash.
Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash.
