Crews in El Paso County have found a missing child.
Lt. Lari Sevene, a spokesperson with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, the child was found with some cuts and abrasions just after 1:00 p.m., and is being transported for medical treatment. No word on the extent of the child's injuries.
Lt. Sevene tells News 5 it looks like the child had fallen into a creek bed.
According to the Sheriff's office, Colorado State Patrol passed a woman along I-25 near the Pueblo county line around 8:30 Saturday morning. Sheriff's deputies say her car was pulled over, and she looked like she was working on something.
Later that day, the Sheriff's office began receiving calls about a woman wandering in the area between mile markers 119 and 132. As deputies were responding, State Patrol returned to the scene and told deputies they had seen the same woman earlier in the day with a young child.
Lt. Sevene says the woman was uncooperative as deputies began asking about the child. Lt. Sevene says it took a while to get any information from her. They eventually got information about the child's father; Lt. Sevene says the father told deputies that the child was with the mother earlier today.
The child's mother is still being questioned by deputies; no word yet on if she'll be facing any charges.
Search and Rescue as well as K-9 units responded to the search.
