Unwanted drug collection planned in Teller County

On April 30 the Teller County Sheriff's Office will participate in the "National Pharmaceutical Drug Take Back Event."
This event is sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration and is designed to get unused and unwanted prescription drugs out of people's homes.
Unwanted drugs can be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at five locations in Teller County:
- Teller County Sheriff's Office, 11400 W HWY 24, Divide, CO
- Woodland Park Police Department, 911 Tamarac Parkway, Woodland Park, CO
- Northeast Teller County Fire Protection District Station #1, 1010 Evergreen Woodland Park, CO
- Florissant Volunteer Fire Department, 2606 W HWY 24, Florissant, CO
- Four Mile Fire Department, 8437 County Road #11, Florissant, CO
The following items cannot be accepted for the Take Back programs: needles, sharps, mercury (thermometers), oxygen containers, chemotherapy, radioactive substances, pressurized canister and illicit drugs. All drugs will be disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.
