A new perspective on the Black Forest Fire is coming to light, from some of the first emergency responders on scene. Members of the Colorado Springs Police SWAT Team sat down with News 5 to tell their incredible stories of the first few hours of the fire.
From physically helping people to evacuate their homes, to close calls and animal rescues, these police officers were on the front lines of the fire working to save lives. They may not be trained to fight fires, but the officers went face to face with the flames in order to help.
