As families continue to struggle in this recession the United Way of Pueblo County says it needs your help more than ever.
On Tuesday, the organization kicked off its 2009 fundraising campaign. The United Way set a goal to raise a record $950,000 to benefit more than 40 non-profits.
The United Way says one challenge this year, some of its usual donors are now in need of help themselves. "These are people who recently lost their jobs, and they need assistance to keep their home, keep the light bill on. And there is an increased need from all of our agencies," said Andrea Aragon, with the United Way of Pueblo County.
Aragon says money raised by the United Way helped more than 90,000 people in Pueblo County last year.
