Despite these tough economic times, on Tuesday donors in Pueblo proved they're still willing to open their hearts and wallets to people in need. During a luncheon at Pueblo Community College, the United Way announced it raised a record $958,000 for its 2009 fundraising campaign.

Crowd members cheered and set off party favors following the announcement. This is the highest amount the United Way of Pueblo has ever raised during a campaign.

The United Way of Pueblo helps a number of local non-profit agencies. In 2009, more than 108,000 people in Pueblo County benefited from United Way funded programs.
