PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Feb. 28, 2012) - In a huge upset in the first round of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Playoffs, the UC-Colorado Springs Mountain Lions were able to rally to beat CSU-Pueblo 61-58 Tuesday night.
The Pack was impressive in the first half, led by Laurel Kearsley and Kendall Babler who combined to score 26 points. The defense was also superb as they forced seven Mountain Lion turnovers.
The second half was a different story as UCCS went on a 13-2 run to take the lead 44-43. Ashley Miller was huge off the bench as she scored a team-high 18 points. Jessica Brown was the second leading scorer for the Mountain Lions finishing with a double-double that included 16 points and 10 rebounds.
The Pack had a chance to tie or take the lead in the waning seconds but a charging foul was called with two seconds left and the Pack trailing by two that effectively ended the drama.
Kearsley scored a game-high 24 points and Babler added 17 for the ThunderWolves.
The Pack's season may not be over, however - it will now have to wait until the final regional rankings are released following this weekend's RMAC Shootout to see if they earn a bid for the NCAA Division II National Tournament.
