UCCS Spanish instructor hit and killed on Hwy. 115

The woman hit and killed along State Highway 115 about 11 miles north of Penrose Friday night was a senior instructor who was teaching three Spanish courses this semester, according to the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs student newspaper, "The Scribe."

Margaret Mistry, 75, was hit by a passing Jeep as she crossed Highway 115 to return to her car at around 7:40 Friday night.  Mistry had hit a deer and was checking on it before returning to her car.  A passing Jeep, driven by Toni Gallardo, 67, of Florence, hit Mistry as she crossed the road.  Mistry died on-scene.

"The Scribe" reports that Mistry was a senior instructor in the languages and cultures department.  She was also the faculty advisor for UCCS Radio.
