A record setting 9,321 students have enrolled at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs this fall, the most in the school's 46 year history. A September 9 campus census showed 429 more students enrolled this year compared to last.
Nearly half of that increase (196 students) comes from the school's 1,352 member freshman class, also a school record.
Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak says more students are recognizing the value that a degree from UCCS provides. "The university offers high-quality teaching, personalized classes and a variety of outstanding programs in a spectacular setting," Shockley-Zalabak said.
The data also show 966 students transferred to UCCS, 45 more than a year ago. Ethnic diversity on campus also increased by 11.5 percent with 2,077 of student indentifying themselves as members of an ethnic minority group.
