Pueblo police are investigating two officer-involved shootings as one crime scene.
As a Pueblo police detective was responding to the first reported shooting in the 800 block of Craig, he noticed a man matching the shooting suspect description near Highway 50 and Elizabeth.
According to police, the suspect would not comply with the detective and attempted to flee. The detective fired his gun, shooting and killing the suspect.
Both off ramps for I-25 are closed at Hwy. 50 / CO 47 and may be for some time, according to police.
The Critical Incident Team is handling the investigation at Hwy. 50 and Elizabeth at this time.
Pueblo police are investigating both shootings as one incident. The crime scene started around 3 a.m. during a patrol in the area of 11th and Greenwood, officers investigated what sounded like gunshots. During that investigation, police say they came across a suspicious vehicle that fled the scene and a vehicle pursuit ensued.
The chase ended when the suspects' car crashed in the 800 block of Craig Street. The suspects began to flee and one fired and hit an officer in the shoulder; we're told the officer did return fire.
Two of the suspects were detained but the shooter escaped.
That officer is at Parkview Hospital where he is conscious and expected to make a recovery.
