Two Fort Carson soldiers killed in Afghanistan

Two soldiers from Fort Carson's 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division have been killed in Afghanistan, according to Fort Carson's Chief of Media Relations.

Corporal Justin Clouse, 22, of Sprague, Washington and Private Aaron Toppen, 19, of Mokena, Illinois, both died June 9.

Clouse had served 2 years, 4 months in the military and was in the midst of his second tour in Afghanistan.  He had been stationed at Fort Carson since June 2012.  Toppen had been in the military for 11 months and died just one month into his first deployment to Afghanistan.  He arrived at Fort Carson in November.

Fort Carson said of the casualties, "It is always hard to lose a part of our military family. Our thoughts and prayers are with Corporal Clouse and Private Toppen's family and friends during this very difficult time."
