BURLINGTON, Colo. (AP) - Two people are dead in an apparent slaying in Burlington, a town on Colorado's Eastern Plains. The Kit Carson County coroner identified the dead Wednesday as Charles Long and Marilyn Long. Coroner Randy Gorton said he couldn't comment on how they died but said autopsies would be performed.
Police say two others were injured in the incident Tuesday evening. They have said the victims include children and adults. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation confirmed that the case is being treated as a homicide. Agents from the CBI are assisting Burlington police.
Burlington is a town of about 3,700 people near the Kansas border along Interstate 70.
