Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki is holding a very slim lead in fans votes to be nominated to the Major League Baseball 2012 All Star Game.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Tulo had racked up 1,200,256 votes putting him in a tight race with Cardinals shortstop Rafael Furcal at 1,183,096 votes. The 17,160 vote difference represents tightest race in the majors.
Tulowitzki is the the fourth different Rockies position player to be elected by the fans to the All Star Game. First baseman Todd Helton and right fielder Larry Walker were each selected three times. Outfielder Dante Bichette was selected once.
Tulo is seeking his third consecutive All-Star nod, while Furcal is looking to play in his third overall (2003, 2010).
The 83rd All-Star Game will be held on Tuesday July 10 at Kauffman Stadium, home of the Kansas City Royals.
