A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for El Paso and Teller counties from noon until midnight today and tonight. In addition to the flash flood risk, we will also be watching thunderstorms as they develop because the atmosphere is set up to favor severe thunderstorms. Primary threats will be damaging wind and hail.
Showers and storms return after a morning break. They will begin between noon and 2 PM and spread from the mountains to the I-25 corridor and then into the Plains late in the afternoon and this evening. High temperatures will be only in the 70's and 80's
Tomorrow will be stormy and unseasonably cool. Dry air will start to move in on Thursday, and temperatures will begin warming. I am hesitant to completely rule out a stray shower through Saturday, when a weak cold front will dry out the atmosphere and bring an end to the rain. Temperatures will continue warming.
