We have been promising a warm up this week. It starts today, but it will start slowly before picking up later this week.
Today's high temperatures will be in the upper 30's and lower 40's. That's still cool, but it's not as cold as Monday. Wednesday will be warmer still, and by Thursday nearly all of us will be in the 60's. Wednesday and Thursday afternoon could be a bit brisk, and while a few storms will impact the mountains no precipitation is expected in Southern Colorado through early next week.
Be aware that with 5 feet of snow in areas around the High Country, the avalanche danger is high. Two people were buried and one was killed in a large avalanche on Monday near Kebler Pass. An Avalanche Warning remains in effect today. Large and dangerous avalanches are possible, and more snow is on the way. That means the threat may increase before conditions begin to improve.
