An investigation in Pueblo is trying to find out who dumped their dog in the middle of the 16th St. on the west side of town, near Hyde Park. This was around 8 p.m. on Friday.
A local woman, Melissa, and her family have taken in the dog - that they're now calling Sweetie - but they can't keep her.
Melissa says Sweetie was dumped by a man in a red van that that threw the dog in the road in front of an oncoming car. Luckily she was able to get out of the way.
Sweetie was stiff Saturday but was doing much better on Sunday.
Melissa hopes authorities find the person who threw Sweetie out of their car into traffic. She took Sweetie to the local humane society see if she had a micro-chip, possibly letting them track down the person that abandoned the dog; no luck there, but they're still looking.
"I'd just like to see her with somebody that will take good care and spoil her for the rest of her life like she deserves," says Melissa. "She hasn't seen much love with humans."
While Pueblo officials conduct their investigation, Melissa wants to find Sweetie a good home. If you recognize sweetie, saw her get dumped, or want to inquire about adopting her; you can send an email to email@example.com.
Sweetie will be staying at the humane society while the investigation continues.
