CANON CITY, CO- The man suspected in the murders of a Canon City mother and her two children was formally charged today in court.
Jaacob Vanwinkle is facing 36 counts in all, 14 of them murder in the 1st degree. He's also facing multiple counts of kidnapping, assault, and sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust.
News 5 also learned in court today that Vanwinkle was convicted in an Indiana court in 2004 of molesting a child.
This all stems from the deaths of Mandy Folsom, and her two children Mason and Marissa. They were killed March 9. Folsom's teenage daughter survived the attack, but was sexually assaulted.
We are continuing to sift through court documents, and break down the results of today's hearing. We'll have more on air, and will post updates online as we get them.
