Trinidad Junior College student chosen for White House event

Five students have been selected to participate in the October 5 Community in Washington. One of those students is Jeremy Begley, who graduated as valedictorian in May from Trinidad State Junior College. Begley is now attending CSU- Fort Collins.
The Community College summit will be hosted by Dr. Jill Biden, wife of the Vice President and a longtime community college teacher, who was asked by President Obama to chair the first-time event.
The purpose of the Summit is to raise awareness of the role played by community colleges in the development of a globally competitive workforce.
Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society of two year colleges, was asked by the White House to identify a pool of students for the conference.
The five students selected were chosen to discuss specific challenges and concerns of community college students, based on their own experiences. Begley will bring ideas for innovations in community colleges.
