BRIGHTON, Colo. (AP) - A man accused of trying to kidnap an Aurora girl from her bedroom told police he was high on acid at the time and that it was a botched burglary attempt.
An Aurora police detective relayed that information in court Tuesday during a hearing in which a judge ruled there was enough evidence to try 26-year-old John Snorsky on kidnapping charges.
The Aurora Sentinel reports that Snorsky told police he climbed through the window of a home looking for money last month, and grabbed an 8-year-old girl to keep her quiet when he heard her voice. He says he took her toward his car, dropped her and sped away.
Prosecutors don't believe Snorsky's story. The girl told police she screamed and escaped by pinching him and running away.
Snorsky's arraignment is Jan. 29.
