Jurors in the case of a foster mother accused of killing a 2-year-old heard the woman's frantic call to a 911 dispatcher during the first day of her trial.
Jules Lynn Cuneo told the dispatcher during the call on October 2007 that the girl had fallen. Cuneo faces a first-degree murder charge for the death of Alize Vick. The trial began Thursday and continues Friday.
A coroner ruled the child died from blunt trauma to the head.
Cuneo initially told police the girl fell out of a parked car. She later said she was bouncing Alize on her knee when the child fell and struck her head on a coffee table.
The death prompted criticism of Colorado's foster care system. Abuse complaints against Cuneo had been filed with the state as far back as 2003.
