Christmas has come and gone, and now many people are faced with the task of taking down the Christmas tree. El Paso County is starting up its TreeCycle Program to make it easy, and to support the community.
Trees will be ground into mulch at all locations and given away free, you are asked to bring your own tools. The suggested minimum fee is $5, and all proceeds will support community youth sports programs with the El Pomar Youth Sports Park.
Make sure to remove all decorations from the tree before dropping it off. There are several locations and dates to recycle your tree.
The first availability of TreeCycle will be a drop off at Rocky Top Resources, 1755 E. Las Vegas St, Colorado Springs. Hours are 8:00am - 4:00pm December 26 - December 31 and January 2-31, except on Sundays. There will be free equipment loaded mulch available at this location only. A phone number for Rocky Top Resources is 719-579-9103.
There will also be two other weekends for TreeCycle drop offs, January 4 & 5, and January 11 & 12. There are seven locations for these weekends which will be open from 9:00am - 5:00pm.
Here's a list of those drop off locations:
Baptist Road Trailhead (the cross streets of Baptist Road and Old Denver Hwy)
Falcon Trailhead (SW of Woodmen Road and McLaughlin Road)
