COLORADO SPRINGS, CO- They're only eight weeks old, lucky to be alive, and they're causing quite a stir among animal lovers. Puppies dumped in a Denver-area trash can back in May are now looking for homes.
Four of those puppies are clear for their upcoming adoptions. Bridgette, Lilo, Brutus and Gus-Gus were at the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region for their check-ups Thursday.
Veterinarian Nicole Putney says although odds were stacked against them, they're doing great.
"Animals are amazingly resilient, and given the proper care we see them bounce back often, but not always, especially when they're that small," Putney said.
Another puppy was found dead when officers arrived, leading to the possiblity of a felony charge for whoever is responsible.
The puppies will now return to their foster home until their new owners are notified on July 24th.
