Giant snow sculptures have transformed Ely, Minnesota into a winter wonderland.
The Ely Winter Festival kicked off last week.
Sculptors came from all over to turn large blocks of snow into art.
"There were a few teams from Canada, a couple of guys from Russia originally carving from another block and Minneapolis and other areas," said sculptor Chris Koivisto.
Others gave sculpting a try for the first time with an amateur contest.
"I was very excited. I took a picture and sent it to my father. Like --look at what we did, we were so proud! We got something accomplished and we've talked about doing another one next year," said Mara Brogan.
"I'm impressed-there's some real artistry here--and fun!" said Donald and Linda Lucachick.
