Traffic stop turns into foot chase in Colorado Springs

A simple traffic stop for no lights turned into a foot chase for Colorado Springs Police Monday night.

Police say 24-year old Erick Walker took off running after being pulled over for riding a motorcycle that didn't have any lights at the intersection of Galley Road and North Academy Boulevard around 11:30pm. After a brief pursuit and scuffle Walker was taken into custody.

Walker did not have a valid driver's license, no proof of insurance and the motorcycle was not registered according to police. On top of that, During a search, officers recovered a handgun, drug paraphernalia and 1.9 grams of methamphetamine that were allegedly in Walker's possession.

Walker also faces charges for violating a protection order because he was in possession of a handgun and a controlled substance and the protection order prohibited him from having these items.
