Traffic stop leads to drug bust

COLORADO SPRINGS - What began as a routine traffic stop ended with Colorado Springs Police arresting four men and seizing over seven pounds of various drugs.  According to CSPD, on March 15, Officer Flaugh stopped a suspected DUI driver near 4600 Barnes Road.  In the car, he found 84 grams of cocaine, 137.8 grams of heroin and 52.5 grams of methamphetamine.  All of the drugs were packaged in small bags, ready to be sold.  Police also found $8,479 in the car.  The driver, Juan Gomez Perez, 23, was arrested and charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance and other charges.

Detectives from the Metro Vice and Narcotics Unit began investigating the source of the drugs.  Their investigation led them to an apartment at the Sagebrook Apartments in the 2400 block of Raywood View.  Detectives suspected this apartment was used to store money and drugs.  On April 21, police raided the apartment.  They found 315.3 grams of cocaine, 1505.9 grams of heroin, and 1612.4 grams of methamphetamine.  All of the drugs were, again, packaged for sale.  Police also found $44,505 and two handguns.  Officers arrested Carlos Estrada Cruz, 23, Luis Lopez-Cruz, 24, and Marcos Lopez Gonzalez, 21.  They were all charged with Distribution of a Schedule I Controlled Substance and the Distribution of a Schedule II Controlled Substance.
