DENVER (AP) - Authorities say a 79-year-old worker was crushed to death by a tractor as he was seeding the grounds of a Jefferson County golf course.
Sheriff's spokesman Mark Techmeyer says John Meyers, of Lakewood, was apparently transferring seed from a front bucket of the tractor to a roller bin on the back at the Meadow Hills Golf Course on Tuesday morning when the vehicle rolled and pinned him beneath a rear wheel. The county coroner's office says the man died of "mechanical asphyxiation."
The Denver Post reports (http://dpo.st/1levBVR ) golfers discovered the accident near the ninth hole.
Operators of the course, part of the Foothills Park & Recreation District, declined to comment.
