One analyst says it's an "extremely serious" problem for Toyota -- because it's suspending sales on the very models of cars that it had been "preparing to sell in big numbers."
Toyota says it's stopping sales of some of its top-selling models to fix gas pedals that could stick.
The parts are made by a U.S. supplier, but are also found in vehicles made in Europe. The company is also planning to stop production at six North American plants, starting next week.
Models affected include the Corolla, Camry, Matrix and Tundra.
Toyota recalled 2.3 million vehicles last week because of reports of sticky accelerator pedals. A Toyota official says engineers are trying to find a fix as quickly as possible.
