Torch run less than an hour away

A special torch relay celebrating the Opening Ceremonies of the 2012 Summer Olympics and the the Rocky Mountain State Games will beging at 3:45 p.m. Friday.

Colorado Springs Mayor Steve Bach and 1984 Olympic gymnast Michelle Farrell will make some remarks and light the torch from Olympic Cauldron at Visitor Center of the US Olympic Training Center.

The torch will be carried from there by Farrell and 11 other runners into America the Beautiful Park.
Farrell will begin the torch relay at the OTC and carry it to the intersection of Boulder St. and Logan Ave.

She'll then pass the torch to Caydee Denney, the national figure skating pairs champion. Denney will carry the torch along Boulder to Hancock Street where she will pass the torch to Molly Conneen of the Daniels Fund.

Conneen will pass the torch to Laura Neumann, the Chief of Staff of the City of Colorado Springs, at Boulder and Institute.

Newmann will carry the torch to Boulder and Franklin where it will be received by Sports Corp Chairman Dave Palenchar. He will pass the torch to Todd Felsen of the Cheyenne Mountain Resort at Boulder and Farrs Court.

Felsen will carry it to Boulder and N. Weber where Dana Kahlhamer of the Crowne Plaza hotel will be waiting.

Kahlhamer will pick up the leg from Weber to Tejon, then Doug Quimby of the Economic Development Corporation will run south on Tejon to Platte.

He'll pass the torch to Doug Price of Experience Colorado Springs who will run west on Platte to Cascade to Dot Lischick of the Colorado Springs World Arena.

Dot will pass the torch to Kevin Olson of King Soopers at Pikes Peak and Cascade. He'll then carry the torch from the Antlers Plaza west on Colorado Avenue to Ciminio Drive. Jerri Marr of the US Forest Service will pick up the final leg of the torch run from Ciminio into America the Beautiful Park.
