More hot and dry weather is in store for our Thursday, and things will not change much on Friday, either.
A huge area of high pressure centered over Kansas is extending west and into our area. It is preventing air from rising enough to generate the afternoon showers and thunderstorms, except in the mountains where the upslope breeze is helping to generate that rising motion in the air.
Today will be mostly sunny. Temperatures will top out in the upper 80's to lower 90's around Colorado Springs, in the mid-to-upper 90's in Pueblo and for areas south of the Arkansas River, near 100 for the Lower Arkansas Valley near La Junta, with 70's and 80's for Monument Hill and Teller County.
