COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Senior forward Brady Ohlsen recorded career rebound No. 600, but Colorado College dropped a 63-61 decision in overtime to Division II Colorado State University-Pueblo on Tuesday night at Reid Gymnasium.
The Tigers had a chance to tie the game at the final buzzer, only to see Ben Foley's jump shot from the left baseline hit off the back of the iron and bounce away.
Nathan Tigner gave the Thunderwolves a 58-52 lead when he sank a pair of free throws with 2:19 remaining in overtime, but CC pulled to within 62-61 when Nick Rose buried his fifth three-pointer with 47 seconds to go. Rose had a chance to tie the game with two seconds left in regulation, but his shot was blocked after he was knocked off balance.
Colorado College led 49-46 when Ohlsen scored with 1:03 to play in regulation, but Daniel Pierce buried a three-pointer to tie the game with 44 seconds to go. Pierce led CSU-Pueblo with 17 points and eight rebounds.
Ohlsen reached the milestone with 9:10 remaining in the first half and went on to post a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. He became the third player in program history to record 600 or more career rebounds and only the third player to have 600 rebounds and 1,000 career points, joining Elliott Broadnax (1996-2000) and Rick Moore (1989-93) in the exclusive club.
Rose scored a game-high 21 points for the Tigers, while Jeremiah Waters added 10.
The Thunderwolves took advantage of their size to build a 38-30 edge in rebounds and made 14 of 21 free throws. CC was 6-for-7 from the charity stripe.
Colorado College is idle until Dec. 28 when the Tigers play the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in the first of two games at the 2010 D3Hoops.com Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada.
