PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Mar. 18, 2014) - Non-conference games against two of the best teams in state of Texas and a homecoming clash with Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference rival Chadron State highlight the 2014 Colorado State University-Pueblo football schedule which was finalized this week.
The ThunderWolves, who have won 37 straight regular season games entering 2014, will open the season at home at the Neta & Eddie DeRose with a Thursday, Sept. 4 evening (6 p.m.) "Red Out" clash against Lone Star Conference power West Texas A&M, a team that has advanced to the last two NCAA Division II playoffs. The teams have met three times in the last three years, including twice in the ThunderBowl in 2012. The Pack, who have made three straight Division II playoff appearances, won the regular-season meeting of the teams to open the 2012 campaign and will be looking to avenge an NCAA playoff quarterfinal loss later that season.
After that challenging opener, the ThunderWolves then begin a 3-week road-swing playing at Division I-FCS Sam Houston State in Huntsville, Texas. The Bearkats have qualified for the last three NCAA Division I-FCS playoff tournaments and advanced to the national championship game in both 2011 and 2012.
The road trip then continues with RMAC road games at Western State and Western New Mexico on Sept. 20 and 27 before returning home to face southern Colorado and RMAC rival Adams State for a 6 p.m. game on Saturday, Oct. 4. After an Oct. 11 game at Fort Lewis, the ThunderWolves will host Chadron State on Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. for homecoming. The last two home games with the Eagles in 2010 and 2012 both went to overtime.
On Oct. 25, the Pack will play at the North Area Athletic Complex in Arvada, Colo. facing the Colorado Mines Orediggers, who will play all of their home games this fall there due to construction on their campus.
The Pack then return home to the ThunderBowl to face Black Hills State for their Hall of Fame game on Nov. 1 before playing their final regular season away game at Colorado Mesa on Nov. 8. The Pack then wrap up the regular season at home against New Mexico Highlands on Nov. 15.
Season tickets for the 2014 season, which includes five regular season home games, are now on sale for as low as $50. Fans who renew or purchase season tickets by May 30 will be entered into a fan appreciation drawing for three 50-inch HDTV's.
