Three employees of Colorado Springs Utilities have been arrested for stealing items found in a shed.

Detectives were looking into a theft at a storage building in the 900 block of South Union Boulevard. An anonymous tip led them to a shed and the owner authorized a search. Inside officers found many of the items they were looking for, including a generator, two winches and a storage box.

The owner of the property wasn't charged, but Robert Maestas, Thomas Mattorano and William Mohrenswiser were charged with felony theft.

Colorado Springs Police estimate more than 200 cases of metal theft this year with a value of over $600,000.
