DENVER (AP) - State officials say the State Veterans Nursing Home in Rifle is on the way to financial recovery and will remain open.

Concerns surfaced after state auditors said in June the facility was losing money.

Auditors said Tuesday the facility has lost money for five of the past 10 years.

However, the Deputy Executive Director of the Department of Human Services, George Kennedy, said the department changed managers and the facility is now making a profit. The facility must still repay about $1 million in loans.
