It's a movement that's getting tough to ignore. More people than ever before are signing up to use medical marijuana and Sunday's Medical Cannabis Expo stands as proof. Over 7000 people from across the state flocked to the Antlers Hotel on Sunday to take part in the convention.
Dr. Paul Bregman has been a radiologist for nearly 30 years. Since 2007 he's recommended nearly 2000 patients for medical cannabis use. "I've seen an explosion of people coming in and it's people with real problems." he says. Dr. Bregman believes marijuana may be one of the keys to total treatment of a patient. "I'm not trying to replace Western medicine. I'm just trying to elevate marijuana based on research, to a place where it could be considered as an alternative for all doctors." he explains.
Mary Jane Janice says she's gone through 21 major surgeries in her lifetime. "I have chronic pain... Major chronic pain.' she explains. She's visiting from Wisconsin and says Colorado may become her new home off of advice from her doctors. "A lot of my pain management doctors told me I should move to another state for medicinal marijuana." she says. She like others swear by medical marijuana as they come out of the shadows and into the social atmosphere
