Thousands of people endured windy and cool conditions in downtown Colorado Springs Saturday to partake in St. Patrick's Day weekend festivities in the city.
Events began early in the morning with the 50K Pedalin' for St. Patrick's Day Bicycle Ride, which pedaled from America the Beautiful park at 8:30 a.m. Roughly 90 minutes later, racers laced their emerald-clad shoes for a 5K on St. Patrick's Day Run and the Leprechaun Fun Run for kids ages 10 and under.
The signature event was the 30th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade, which featured 107 entrants, including KOAA 5. News 5 weekday evening anchors Rob Quirk and Lisa Lyden, weekday morning anchors Nicole Vandeputte and Adam Atchison, weekend evening anchor Zach Thaxton, and weekend morning anchor Greg Dingrando helped lead the KOAA 5 contingent south along Tejon Street, handing out candy and News 5 temporary tattoos.
