Thefts on the rise in certain parking lots

The best practice in making sure that you do not fall victim of a car theft is to "not leave anything valuable in your car," says CSPD Sgt. Steve Noblitt.
Noblitt does want to warn people about leaving garage door openers in their cars. Criminals who are very persistent may even try to find your registration form to learn where you live and "burglarize your home," he adds.
Targeted parking lots include those at Palmer Park, Garden of the Gods, Bear Creek Park, Cheyenne Canyon and Red Rock Canyon.
To date, CSPD does not have any leads.
